Project: Fundraise for medical Clinic in Guizhou, China

Money raised: $ 1488 USD

Summary of Events:
Over the year, the Ink Oasis held meetings in Elson Room 111 for forty-five minutes on every other
Monday. Painting topics include: landscape, sunflowers, cards etc. We applied different techniques into
our paintings, and experimented with different media. During the 2007-2008 school year, we held two
major events that have attracted wide awareness to our cause:

1.        
Ink Oasis Chinese Painting Exhibition at the Memorial Hall Library
the Xi Yang Yang Orchestral Group, attracted over 100 people to attend. Ink Oasis also sold its

2.        
Art Show at Downtown Starbucks
On the 27th of April, the Ink Oasis hosted an Art show and art sale at the Starbucks at downtown
Andover. The event, which lasted for three hours, attracted many people to donate to our cause.
Jennifer Fan gave demonstrations on that day and the Ink Oasis board helped sell our paintings,
postcards, and hand-painted cards. We raised $418 that day, advancing us closer to our goal.

The Ink Oasis was able to raise awareness in the Andover and Phillips Academy societies. Our efforts
have been promoted and documented by the following newspaper articles:

Future Plans:
In the future, the Ink Oasis plans to expand its domain by integrating different art forms, keeping our
original aim of combining art with social service. We plan to hold the following events in the near future:

1.        
Open art class at the Memorial Hall Library
Since a lot of people who came to the exhibition and art show expressed interest in learning Chinese
painting, we plan to hold regular open art classes at the Memorial Hall Library. It will take place for  on a
sign-in, first come first served basis.

2.        
Ink Oasis Art Album Launch
We are currently publishing an art album featuring the artworks of Ink Oasis members, and photos of Ink
Oasis events. We plan to officially launch our albums in Fall 2009.
3.        
More Art Exhibitions
We are currently talking to the Oliver Wendell Holmes Library to plan to hold an exhibition at the library
in 2009. We hope to spread the beauty of Chinese art to the Andover community.
